For any developer, finding the right architect is as important as finding the right sites and reliable, quality driven builders.

At DND we wanted an architect who was not only technically sound (UK trained/qualified), and well experienced yet sympathetic to the Cyprus environment, but also one who shares our passion for truly desirable homes that provide excellent value to the customer.

We were fortunate indeed to be introduced to Andreas Vardas. Possibly what impressed us more than his considerable technical & artistic skills and achievements was his philosophy and desire to produce "homes that are for people to live in, not just for them to buy."

His ability to combine beauty & style without compromising comfort & day-to-day practicality culminates in the outstanding, innovative award-winning designs that have become both his trademark and ours. As Andreas likes to say "...part of the Art of Architecture is attending to function before form so that you maximise the usable space, rather than drawing boxes into which people and their needs have to fit."

Andreas is also very much a hands-on person - his role does not stop just with the designs, in which form and shape are refined to minimise dead or useless space - he is involved with all our projects from initial conception right through to final completion, monitoring progress & quality-of-build and providing the little personal touches that makes every DND home unique in its own right whilst retaining the overall character of each development.

After graduating from the Birmingham School of Architecture with a BA (Hons) in 1990, Andreas continued his studies at the world-renown Bartlett School of Architecture at the University of London where he was awarded his Diploma in Architecture.

His professional affiliations include full membership of the UK's A.R.B. and R.I.B.A. (Chartered Architect) as well as being a member of ETEK (Cyprus), the Cyprus Architects Association, and the Cyprus Architects & Engineers Association.

In both 1998 and 2000 Andreas represented Cyprus in the 6th & 7th Mies Van Der Rohe European Awards of Architecture in Barcelona, and has been nominated for the President of the Republic of Cyprus National Award for Architecture.
Other prizes and awards his designs have won include:-
Design of State High School in Nicosia, "Dead Sea Competition" for design of hotel, Marble Arch competition, Cyprus Electricity Authority Headquarters, Cyprus University Halls of Residence, Cyprus Olympic Committee Headquarters, Cyprus National Archive Building, Cyprus Teacher's Association Headquarters, and a Sports Centre in Limassol.

In addition, Andreas has also contributed to many seminars and professional publications, including "Quality Assurance" (London, 1993), "The effects of cities in our everyday life" and "Renovation of Group-2 Listed Buildings" (London 1995), "Space Architecture" (London, 1996), Building Design, World Architecture, and Cyprus Property & Home.
